Stuttgart

Stuttgart is located in the south-west of Germany, just 160 km south of the geographical center of the European Union

The history of Stuttgart dates back to the Roman Empire and has today a population of 650,000. Stuttgart can easily be reached by train, plane, car, or bus.

The conference site is located at the campus of the university (see Venue) and is connected to the city center of Stuttgart via public transportation (currently ~25 minutes via a direct bus connection). The hotel is located near campus in the district Stuttgart-Vaihingen (currently ~10 minutes via a direct bus connection).

By train

Traveling via train is probably is most convenient and comfortable option. There are direct connections to Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Paris, Bologna, Milano, Zurich, Zagreb and much more cities.

Note: the S-Bahn connection between main station and Vaihingen (where your hotel is located) is currently not operated due to constructions. There are, however, buses replacing the S-Bahn (called Schienenersatzverkehr or Replacement service). They are running every 5 minutes during peak operation times and every 10 minutes otherwise. They depart in-front of the main station (google-maps link to the departure location), are either labeled with SEV or Schienenersatzverkehr or Vaihingen (which is the destination where your hotel is located).

By bus

A budget-friendly way to reach Stuttgart is offered by various bus companies, like FlixBus or BlaBlaCar and others. There are different arrival locations in Stuttgart, where the most frequently operated stop is at the airport.

By plane

Stuttgart has an international airport which offers direct flight connections to all major European airports. The airport is well connected to the public transportation system in Stuttgart and offers direct access to the hotel via S-Bahn (line S2), you have to leave at the stop "Vaihingen".

By car

While Stuttgart is well connected to the Autobahn-network, you should plan in some additional time if you plan to come during the rush hours. Note that e.g. google maps is usually taking that into account though when planning your route. Also note that there are a lot of speed cameras in Stuttgart, it definitely pays off to drive within the given limits. At the hotel you can buy daily parking spots in a garage.
