Note: the S-Bahn connection between Vaihingen (where your hotel is located and the conference venue ("Universität") is currently not operated due to constructions. There are, however, buses replacing the S-Bahn (called "Schienenersatzverkehr" or "Ersatzverkehr" or "Replacement service"). They are running every 5 minutes during peak operation times and every 10 minutes otherwise (from 5am until ~1am). Starting from "Vaihingen" (the stop directly next to your hotel), you want to take the bus, label with "SEV" or "SEV 1" or "Schienenersatzverkehr" or "Hauptbahnhof" or "Stuttgart Hbf" (or short "Hbf"). From the bus stop "Universität" to the lecture hall it is only a short walk (link to google maps route).
