Erik Fernandez
Erik Fernández is the General Manager of INEUSTAR, the Spanish Science Industry Association, and a founder and board member of the European association Fusion Europe. He holds a degree and a PhD in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Navarra.
He has a solid background in the science and technology sector, having worked at several technology centers both as a principal investigator—leading teams in the field of non-destructive testing of materials—and in business development roles, maintaining close collaboration with industry. Additionally, he teaches as an adjunct professor at the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra.
Laban Coblentz
Laban Coblentz’s career crisscrosses multiple sectors of science, technology, and sustainable development. At the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, he applied mathematical models of probabilistic risk to improve safety at nuclear power plants. In the U.S. Congress, he led Senator Joe Lieberman’s effort to create The E-Government Act of 2002. At the International Atomic Energy Agency from 2000 to 2008, he worked with DG Mohamed ElBaradei on nuclear diplomacy in Iraq, Iran, and other political hotspots, while also negotiating in support of the US-India nuclear deal, and promoting hi-tech improvements to agricultural productivity, medicine, and groundwater management in developing countries. From the IAEA, he returned to New York to create university- and community-based models for entrepreneurship, drawing on the Maker Movement and the democratization of advanced manufacturing. For the past 10 years, he has been Head of Communication at ITER, in southern France, where 33 countries are collaborating to make fusion power a practical reality for clean energy generation.

Duarte Borba is a Senior Advisor and Head of Office of the EUROfusion Programme Manager in the EUROfusion Programme Management Unit. Duarte Borba has been part of EUROfusion and EFDA management for over 20 years. Duarte Borba has managed the Office of the EFDA Associate Leader for JET, lead the Physics Group and ITER Physics Department at EFDA. Duarte Borba have contributed to various roles and been responsible for a wide range of activities including technology transfer, communications, training, education and publications. Duarte Borba is a co-author of over 100 scientific publications in the field of Nuclear Fusion and is a co-author of the Fusion Roadmap published in 2012 and updated in 2018. Duarte Borba has been the secretary of the EUROfusion General Assembly and Bureau since its establishment in 2014.
