We are honoured to welcome the following speakers on our event.

Prof. Dr. Tony Donné

tonny_donne.jpgTony Donné is the Programme Manager of EUROfusion, the European consortium of 30 national fusion research institutes in 26 EU countries plus Switzerland and Ukraine. Before that he was head of the Fusion Physics Division at the Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research (DIFFER) and responsible for the coordination of the nuclear fusion research in the Netherlands. In 2010 he was interim director of the institute. From January 2010 - January 2018 he was professor in Diagnostics and Heating of Fusion Plasmas at Eindhoven University of Technology.

From 2008 - 2014 he was director of the Dutch-Russian Centre of Excellence on Fusion Physics and Technology, as well as programme director of the ITER-NL consortium.

 

Prof. Dr. Sibylle Günter

sibylle_gunter.jpgSibylle Günter studied physics at Rostock University, Germany, where she completed her PhD in 1990. After an extended research stay in the USA, she became staff member at the Max-Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) in 1996. In 2000, she was appointed Member of the Max Planck Society and director at IPP. Since 2001 she has been adjunct professor at Rostock University, since 2006 honorary professor at TU Munich. In 2011 she was appointed Scientific Director of IPP. Sibylle Günter is elected member of the National Academy of Science and Engineering of Germany (Acatech), of the Academia Europaea and corresponding member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Science (SATW). She is the coordinator of the EUROfusion consortium.

 

Mr. Patrick Child

patrick_child.jpgPatrick Child is the Deputy Director-General of the DG Research and Innovation of the European Commission. He has specific responsibility for the Commission's research and innovation policy on clean energy technologies as well as in the environmental and climate sector. He is the Commission representative and elected chair of the steering committee of Mission Innovation (a coalition of 23 countries committed to doubling research in clean energy by 2020). He is also responsible for the overall coordination of the EU's Horizon 2020 research and innovation budget (EUR 77 billion for 2014-2020).
